FAQ

1, NO Power or Turns off by itself

Q: My television won’t power on. What could be wrong?
A: Make sure your power cord is firmly plugged into both the back of the TV and the power outlet. Some models have a power switch on the back of the TV – make sure it is in the ON position. If you are trying to turn on your TV using the remote control, make sure you are using new batteries and that they are inserted properly. On Universal Remote controls, first press the “TV” button on remote control, and then press the POWER button.

Q: My HDTV monitor-receiver turns off by itself.
A: It's possible that a power surge may have activated the electronic protection circuit. Wait 30 seconds and then turn the TV on again. If this happens frequently, the voltage in your house may be abnormally high or low. You may wish to consult an electrician.
For further assistance with this problem, please refer to the owner's manual.

Q: Why is my television displaying a blue screen or "No Signal" message then turning itself off?
A: If your television is displaying a blue screen or no signal message and then turning off, your TV may be at an inactive input. Here's how you can get back to watching your TV:
1. Powering on your TV and press the INPUT button on the SunView remote control repeatedly until a picture re-appears.
2. If this does not work, try again but press the button slower this time.

2, Video or Audio Problems

Q: I have sound with no picture.
A: Make sure all cables are firmly connected into your television and your external AV source. After you have made all connections, make sure the sound input matches the video input. If you are trying to view a TV station, switch to another station because some channels may be having broadcast difficulties. Check to make sure the brightness/contrast settings are correct by entering the main menu and adjusting.

Q: I have picture with no sound.
A:  Make sure the television is not muted. Check all cables to ensure they are firmly connected into the TV and your eternal AV source. After you have done so, check to see that the video input matches the sound input. Increase the volume on either the remote control or TV. If you are trying to view a TV station, switch to another station because some channels may be having broadcast difficulties.

Q: I have everything connected, but there is no picture or sound?
A: Make sure all cables are firmly connected into your television and your external AV sources. After you have made all connections, press the INPUT or SOURCE button on either the TV or the remote and choose the correct source. Make sure your cable, satellite, or set-top box is turned on. If these step fail, try a different set of cables.

Q: Why doesn't my picture fill the screen of my TV even if I press the FORMAT button on my remote control to try to change it? Or, why can't I change the format of the picture that I see on the TV screen?
A: The format of the picture that you see (16:9, 4:3, etc.) on your TV is determined by the broadcaster of the program that you are watching. So, you may see bars on the top or side of the TV screen even though you have a widescreen TV. Sometimes, the TV program is broadcast in a format that you cannot change with the remote control. Other times, the picture is broadcast in a manner that can be changed. One way to check to make sure that everything is working properly is to go to several other channels to see if you can change the format.

Q: My television is on and has sound, but the picture quality is poor--discolored, snowy, or fuzzy.
A: There are a number of things you can check to try to restore your picture quality:

  • Perhaps the TV station or the cable programming channel is experiencing problems. Try scanning through the channels to see if other channels are fine.
  • Try adjusting the antenna. Also check the antenna connections and inspect the antenna to ensure that it is in good working order with no broken wires.
  • Make sure all of the cables to other components or a cable box are properly connected and are firmly secured to the jacks.
  • Interference may be causing poor picture quality or static. To remedy this you may try moving any infrared equipment away from the television.
  • Try adjusting the picture quality.

Q: My television is on and working, but there is no color in the picture or the color seems off.
A: There are a couple of things you can check in terms of your picture color:

  • First, be sure the program is being broadcast in color. Try changing the channel to see if the color is correct on other channels.
  • Try adjusting your antenna. A weak signal can sometimes cause noise and the loss of color in the picture.
  • Try adjusting the picture quality settings.

3, A/V Input problems

Q: I have connected an external A/V source to my television and I get no picture and/or sound.
A:  Make sure to connect the cables to the correct outputs on your external AV source and the inputs on your television. Press the INPUT or SOURCE button to select the input mode that corresponds to your connection to the external AV source. Turn on your external AV source. Check for the correct settings in the Audio Select menu on your TV.

Q: Why does the sound on my A/V receiver not go down when I turn the TV volume down?
A:  Most likely your TV has a fixed audio output level which means that the TV volume does not control the output level of the signal going to your receiver. If your TV has a variable audio output level, the volume level of the signal going to the receiver will be dependent on the TV volume.

4, Remote control Problem

Q: My remote control is not working or only works when I am close to the television.
A: There are a number of things you can check in terms of remote control problems:

  • Make sure you are using new batteries and that they are inserted correctly.
  • Using a mobile phone camera or digital camera to check if your remote control is working or not. The reason is that those cameras are able to catch the infrared ray from a remote control. Operate your camera (do not take a photo), then press any button on your remote control. If a light flashes on the camera screen, this means your remote control is working properly.
  • Your remote will operate 16 ft. away from the television, and 30 degrees from center in either direction. Make sure you are trying to operate the remote in this range.

5, Other Problems

Q: What if I currently subscribe to a digital satellite service provider?
A: All satellite service providers have HDTV programming available. Contact your service provider to learn more about HDTV programming packages.

Q: When I turn off my television, there is a white flash on the screen. Is this normal?
A: Yes, this is normal. That is the LCD backlight powering down.

Q: My Television has problems that I cannot fix after reviewing the User's Guide or website FAQ section. What is "one last thing" I can try prior to contacting SunView Customer Support?
A: TVs today are becoming similar to computers and use hardware and software to deliver the picture and the sound. Similar to how a computer can lock-up and then you have to re-boot, TVs sometimes have problems that you can fix by resetting, or rebooting, them. To reset your TV, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, power strip, etc. Keep your TV unplugged for about 5 minutes. Then, plug the TV back in, turn the TV on, and see if the problem is fixed. If the problem remains, then please contact Our Customer Support Center or email to service@prowes.com.au.
